National Conference Equality 2030
At the Kursaal in Berne, Alain Berset opens the National Conference Equality 2030 before more than 350 members of executives, politicians and specialists. It reviews the Gender Equality Strategy adopted by the Federal Council in 2021, focused this year on women’s economic independence. Women earn on average 18% less than men, or 1,500 francs a month; the unexplained gap is almost 8%.
He opens with a sentence from Elisabeth Kopp: one is either equal or one is not. Women and men are still only “ein bisschen” equal, so not equal. The objections of the opponents of equality are “die Liftmusik des Fortschritts”. He announces two new features of the Logib tool: from 2024, a target value of 2.5% for the unexplained pay gap; from today, a module to check that a pay system is gender-neutral.
Government councillors Astrid Bärtschi, Florence Nater and Isabelle Moret, the mayors of Berne and Geneva, the co-mayor of Yverdon-les-Bains and the heads of Swiss Post and Swisscom then present their measures.
