71st Cannes Film Festival
Alain Berset spends the day at the Cannes Film Festival. He visits the Marché du Film and the Village International, where the City of Cannes welcomes him at the Swiss pavilion. He stops at the Mexican stand: Switzerland and Mexico have just ratified a film co-production agreement.
He has lunch with Swiss film professionals, among them the filmmaker Ursula Meier, President of the Caméra d’or jury. In the evening, at the Grand Théâtre Lumière, he attends the screening of Jean-Luc Godard’s “The Image Book” (“Le Livre d’image”), the only Swiss film in competition for the Palme d’or. Two Swiss co-productions are also in competition: “Happy as Lazzaro” (“Lazzaro felice”) by Alice Rohrwacher and “Knife + Heart” (“Un couteau dans le cœur”) by Yann Gonzalez. The day ends with a reception by the Federal Office of Culture at the Swiss Films stand.
