Echallens Wheat and Bread Festival

The fourth Wheat and Bread Festival, first held in 1978, runs from 15 to 26 August, with the show “Solstices”. Alain Berset attends with Federal Councillor Guy Parmelin and gives the address on the official day.

He jokes about the rhythm: bread once every ten years, while the Fête des Vignerons needs twenty years of recovery. Then he goes back to 1978, the first edition, through cinema: Terrence Malick’s “Days of Heaven”, and the poet Gustave Roud. He concludes that the minister of culture “is also the minister of meteorology”.
