World Economic Forum 2019: health, culture and bilateral talks
Four members of the Federal Council attend the WEF annual meeting. Alain Berset puts health policy at the centre: drug prices, digitalisation, patient safety. He meets several health ministers, including Jens Spahn (Germany), Bruno Bruins (Netherlands) and Matt Hancock (United Kingdom), and takes part in a forum session on cooperation in health.
He also sees Audrey Azoulay, Director-General of UNESCO, on Switzerland’s commitment to the organisation and on building culture; Pierre Moscovici, European Commissioner, on relations between Switzerland and the European Union; Peter Maurer, President of the ICRC, with whom he discusses the Central African Republic, which he will visit in May.
On 24 January, after a press briefing at the House of Switzerland, he leaves Davos for Solothurn, where he opens the Solothurn Film Festival that same evening.
