UN World Data Forum (virtual)
19 October 2020 - 21 October 2020
The pandemic prevents the third UN World Data Forum from being held in Berne; it takes place online, and the in-person version is postponed to 2021. Alain Berset opens it with a pre-recorded statement.
He starts from the Charter of the United Nations, 75 years earlier, and its promise to “promote social progress and better standards of life in larger freedom”. The pandemic threatens this progress; the indicator framework of the 2030 Agenda requires reliable, shared data.
