Presidential celebration in Fribourg

The canton of Fribourg celebrates its President-elect. Before Doris Leuthard and the federal and cantonal authorities, Alain Berset recalls that this is the third time Fribourg has welcomed him in this way: in 2008 for the presidency of the Council of States, in 2011 for his election to the Federal Council.

He speaks of the cracks in society: between those who benefit from globalisation and those who fear being left behind. “These cracks must not become chasms.” Then comes his praise of compromise: “Ohne Kompromisse keine Schweiz. Wir sind eine Kompromissnation.”
