Patient Safety Global Action Summit
9 March 2016 - 10 March 2016
At the invitation of the British Health Secretary, Jeremy Hunt, and with Germany as co-sponsor, Alain Berset takes part in London in the first global ministerial summit on patient safety. The aim: to create a global movement to reduce the number of avoidable deaths in hospitals.
For Switzerland, the subject falls under the Health2020 strategy. Healthcare-associated infections cause some 2,000 deaths a year there; half could be avoided. At the summit, at Lancaster House, he speaks in the round of ministerial reflections.
On the sidelines, he discusses reform priorities, quality, hospital infections, dementia and WHO with Jeremy Hunt.
