World Economic Forum: social affairs and health on the agenda
At his second WEF, Alain Berset focuses his talks on his own portfolios. With László Andor, European Commissioner for Employment and Social Affairs, he discusses the coordination of social insurance under the free movement of persons and the European white paper on pensions. With Ursula von der Leyen, German Minister of Labour, he discusses ageing, pensions that must be guaranteed without overburdening public finances, and family policy.
He thanks the German Health Minister Daniel Bahr, received in Bern in October 2012, for turning into reality the idea of a meeting of German-speaking health ministers, planned in Münster. Alain Berset presents to him Health2020, adopted the day before, then discusses it with the Swedish State Secretary Karin Johansson, with whom the electronic patient record is also on the table. With the Liechtenstein Minister of Culture Aurelia Frick, joint projects.
On 25 January, he sees Peter Maurer, President of the ICRC, Klaus Schwab, and then Irina Bokova, Director-General of UNESCO, whom he assures of Switzerland’s support for the organisation’s reforms.
