125 years of the Inter-Parliamentary Union
17 March 2014
The Inter-Parliamentary Union holds its 130th Assembly in Geneva, in the year of its 125th anniversary. On behalf of the Federal Council, Alain Berset welcomes the delegates of the world’s parliaments, in English and in French.
He opens with a remark by Churchill on what is harder than an after-dinner speech: climbing a wall leaning towards you, kissing a girl leaning away from you. He adds that the delegates have not yet had dinner.
