500 years of the Perpetual Peace and health framework agreement with France
26 September 2016 - 27 September 2016
At the Senate, Alain Berset and its President, Gérard Larcher, open a historians’ symposium on the 500th anniversary of the Perpetual Peace, signed in Fribourg on 29 November 1516. He defends European law as a bulwark: “Seeking to renounce the legal provisions under which Europe has grown up only serves the cause of nationalism.”
In the afternoon, he meets Marisol Touraine, Minister of Social Affairs and Health. They sign a framework agreement on cross-border health cooperation, intended to make it easier to access care in border regions. They review the July agreement on health insurance for cross-border commuters, the price of medicines and antibiotic resistance.
