Ambassadors’ Conference
25 August 2022
On 25 August in Berne, Alain Berset addresses the Ambassadors’ Conference, held from 22 to 26 August in Pontresina and Berne on the war in Ukraine and its consequences for foreign policy. Speaking freely, in French, he outlines a “politics of crisis” inspired by Gaston Bachelard: sudden uncertainty, disruption, retreat, and only then the search for a new equilibrium. His answer: a return to fundamentals. Internationally, Switzerland needs clear rules of the game; at home, long-term thinking and a demanding public debate.
