Hearing by the Ministers’ Deputies and inclusion on the list

On 20 March 2024, the three candidates are heard in Strasbourg by the Ministers’ Deputies: Alain Berset, the European Commissioner for Justice Didier Reynders (Belgium) and the former Estonian Minister of Culture Indrek Saar.
On 25 March, the Committee of Ministers transmits the three candidacies to the Parliamentary Assembly. Its Resolution CM/Res(2024)1 ranks them in order of preference: Alain Berset is listed first. The Assembly can only elect a candidate from this list; the election is scheduled for the June part-session (24–28 June).
