National conference on the integration of people with disabilities into the labour market: first day
Alain Berset opens the National Conference on the integration of people with disabilities into the labour market. Employers, trade unions, doctors, schools, cantons, the invalidity insurance and organisations of people with disabilities are to draw up a joint plan by the end of the year. The first day sets the priorities and closes with a declaration of intent.
He opens with a quotation from Zola: “Nothing develops the intelligence like travel.” Then he lays down the principle: integration is a task for society as a whole. “Können wir uns diese Aufgabe überhaupt leisten? Wir können nicht – wir müssen!” And, according to the press release: it is not enough to support people with disabilities; the barriers in the world of work must also be “torn down”.
