Opening of the 53rd Solothurn Film Festival

Between two days at the WEF, Alain Berset opens the 53rd Solothurn Film Festival. He quotes Fredi M. Murer: since 1966, every year after Solothurn, one reads that Swiss cinema is in crisis. What crisis in 2018? “Eine Krise der Verunsicherung”, he replies.
The speech, “Tiefenscharf und hoch politisch”, asks what role a festival of debate can play when everything becomes a matter of interpretation and facts, even scientific ones, turn into political modelling clay. Neither irony nor withdrawal is enough, he says: the causes of the unease, inequality, migration, the changing world of work, will not disappear by themselves.
