Opening of the 67th World Health Assembly

19 May 2014

At the Palais des Nations, Alain Berset delivers the opening speech of the 67th World Health Assembly. It focuses on the climate: floods, droughts, diseases transmitted by insects or water. “So it is a public health issue,” he repeats. He jokes about his portfolio, which also includes statistics and meteorology.

During the day, he meets the Lithuanian Minister of Health, Vytenis Povilas Andriukaitis, and brings together heads of international organisations on primary health care, including Michel Sidibé (UNAIDS) and Mark Dybul (Global Fund). In the afternoon, he debates the health challenges after the vote of 9 February at the Swiss Press Club.
