Opening of the 75th World Health Assembly
22 May 2022 - 23 May 2022
On 22 May, at the Palais des Nations, Alain Berset opens the 75th World Health Assembly, the first held in person since the start of the pandemic, on the theme “Health for peace, peace for health”. He stresses that health must never be a target, argues for a strong WHO, sustainably funded and at the centre of global health governance, and supports a new international instrument on pandemics. The “Health for Peace” initiative, led by Switzerland and Oman, is submitted to the Assembly.
On the sidelines, a series of bilateral meetings and a ministerial lunch on patient safety, ahead of the 5th Ministerial Summit in Montreux in February 2023.
