Opening of the Numerik Games 2023

24 August 2023

Alain Berset opens the 8th Numerik Games, the digital cultures festival of Yverdon-les-Bains, which grew out of the Maison d’Ailleurs. The festival, held from 25 to 27 August in the town centre, features a Lego exhibition this year. The speech is given at the official opening evening on Thursday 24 August, the day before the festival opens to the public.

A speech in the form of a game. He starts from Ole Kirk Christiansen, the inventor of Lego, a “carpenter” from Billund, and his motto: “Only the best is good enough.” Switzerland, he says, was built like Lego, brick by brick, with ever more elaborate instructions, in 1848 and then in 1874. He invokes Einstein, a federal civil servant: “Play is the highest form of research.” And concludes with an equation: Yverdon (Y) hosts Events (M, for “Manifestations”) where Culture (C) multiplies. “Y=MC².”
