Swiss Bankers Day

Before the Swiss Bankers Association, Alain Berset reads out the Wikipedia definition: the reputation of the banking centre rests on the country’s political and economic stability. He adds social stability, without which there is neither. As a citizen and taxpayer, he says, he is reassured; as a Federal Councillor, he would like meetings where something other than the financial centre is discussed.
The heart of the speech is a warning: “Denn die Annahme, dass alles, was im eigenen Land legal ist, auch international als legitim gilt, hat sich als ebenso gefährlich wie naiv erwiesen.”
