Swiss Film Award nominations night
At the Konzertsaal in Solothurn, on the eve of the close of the Festival, the nominees for the Swiss Film Award 2013 are announced: 123 films in the running, ten categories, 440,000 francs. The new Quartz trophy, designed by Jean Mauboulès, is unveiled. Alain Berset speaks together with Charles Beer, President of the Geneva Council of State, and Christian Frei, President of the Swiss Film Academy.
“Meine Aufgabe ist es, gute Rahmenbedingungen für die Kultur zu schaffen. Und nicht zu sagen, welche Filme Sie machen sollen.” He announces that the extension of distribution rights to online services and the reinvestment of Succès bonuses in international co-productions will be examined. And he cites the final shot of Ursula Meier’s “L’Enfant d’en haut”, seen that same day: only dialogue moves things forward.
