Tribute to Markus Imhoof at the Solothurn Film Festival

The Solothurn Film Festival is held online. During the Swiss Film Awards Nominations Night, streamed live, Alain Berset pays tribute to Markus Imhoof, winner of the 2020 Honorary Award: the March 2020 ceremony had been cancelled because of the pandemic.

He starts from life in lockdown: a small screen in the morning, a medium one during the day, a big one in the evening. “Aber der ganz grosse Bildschirm – er fehlt uns.” A living culture, he says, is one of the foundations of any society. Then he salutes the director of “Das Boot ist voll” and “More than Honey”, who had once been wary of a lifetime achievement award: “Gesamtwerk, das klingt ja, als sei es das jetzt gewesen.”
