Vote on music education for young people: campaign launch

With Isabelle Chassot, President of the Swiss Conference of Cantonal Ministers of Education, Alain Berset launches the campaign for the federal decree on the promotion of music education for young people. The text, a counter-proposal to the “youth + music” initiative, which has been withdrawn, anchors music in the Constitution.
It provides for national objectives for music teaching in schools and easier access to music-making outside school. On 23 September, the people accept it by nearly 73%. The same day, the initiative “Protection against passive smoking”, which the Federal Council opposed, is rejected by around two to one.
