Vote on preimplantation genetic diagnosis

The people and the cantons approve the amendment to the constitutional article on medically assisted reproduction. It paves the way for preimplantation genetic diagnosis, which the law prohibited, for couples carrying a serious hereditary disease and for infertile couples.
Alain Berset, who had presented the proposal on 23 March, comments on the result at a press conference and in a video address. Parliament had adopted the article by 160 votes to 31 in the National Council and 34 to 8 in the Council of States.
