World Economic Forum 2020
For the 50th WEF, the whole Federal Council is in Davos. On 21 January, International Geneva day, Alain Berset opens the House of Switzerland lunch on the economics of global health: Geneva hosts some 176 permanent missions, 37 international organisations and 400 NGOs. He also opens a session on health data, “The Good, Bad and Ugly”: digitalisation offers much in quality, patient safety and cost control, provided trust is guaranteed. He announces the UN World Data Forum planned in Berne in October.
On 22 January, he meets the health ministers of Brazil, Luiz Henrique Mandetta, and the Netherlands, Bruno Bruins. With Viola Amherd, he meets Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka, Executive Director of UN Women. He returns to the international call to action for universal health coverage in emergencies.
