Courtesy visit by Volker Türk, High Commissioner for Human Rights

Alain Berset receives Volker Türk, UN High Commissioner for Human Rights since October 2022, for a courtesy visit. He praises the work of the Office of the High Commissioner in countries affected by conflict and crisis. The two men agree on the role of human rights in development and conflict prevention, and on closer cooperation during Switzerland’s mandate on the Security Council.

The same day, Ignazio Cassis receives the High Commissioner for a working session. In 2022, Switzerland paid 10 million francs to the Office of the High Commissioner, 26% more than the previous year.
