5th Global Ministerial Summit on Patient Safety
With the support of the WHO, Switzerland hosts the 5th “Global Ministerial Summit on Patient Safety” in Montreux, postponed since 2020 because of the pandemic. More than 600 experts and nearly 80 delegations, including some thirty health ministers. The WHO Director-General, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, attends. Theme: “Less Harm, Better Care – from Resolution to Implementation”.
Alain Berset welcomes the ministers at the dinner on 23 February, opens the ministerial day on the 24th and leads the round table. The ministers agree that, despite progress, further efforts are needed to guarantee safe, high-quality care for all patients. The lessons of Covid-19 must serve to build more resilient health systems; the WHO Global Patient Safety Action Plan 2021–2030 remains the roadmap. Chile will host the next summit.
