115th National Horse Fair (Marché-Concours)

The canton of Fribourg is guest of honour at the 115th Marché-Concours in Saignelégier. Alain Berset speaks as President of the Swiss Confederation and as a Fribourgeois, before the Jura government, Fribourg State Councillors and the President of the National Council.

He recalls that the Jura joined the Confederation on 1 January 1979, by Federal Council decree of 15 November 1978. He hands a copy to the Jura government, “a symbol of the bond of federal friendship”, written in a style “that hesitates between neutral and dull”. He sets against it the language of the Jura poets Alexandre Voisard, Jean Cuttat and Tristan Solier.
