40 years of the World Heritage Convention

At the Dampfzentrale, Switzerland celebrates 40 years of the UNESCO Convention concerning the Protection of the World Heritage. The Swiss Commission for UNESCO presents the first book devoted to all the Swiss sites on the list.

Alain Berset opens with Malraux: “The future is a present given to us by the past.” He recalls the commitment Switzerland made by ratifying the Convention in 1975; as a member of the World Heritage Committee, it emphasises the conservation of sites over new inscriptions.
