General Assembly of vips

Alain Berset addresses the 72nd General Assembly of vips, the Association of Pharmaceutical Companies in Switzerland, in Lucerne, before some 80 guests. It is the first in-person edition in two years.
He defends a culture of debate grounded in facts — “Fakten sind keine Knetmasse” — and acknowledges the industry’s weight in research. Then the points of friction: the price of medicines, which is rising twice as fast as other health costs, the second package of cost-containment measures, security of supply, the 2022–2026 biomedicine masterplan and the use of health data for research.
