The Federal Council in the canton of Vaud and general assembly of the CVCI

24 April 2013

The Federal Council holds an ordinary meeting outside Bern at the Château de Prangins, the seventh of its kind since 2010, to mark 210 years since Vaud joined the Confederation. This is followed by a meeting with the population in Nyon and a lunch with the Council of State.

In the evening, in Lausanne, Alain Berset speaks before the general assembly of the Vaud Chamber of Commerce and Industry. He quotes Gilles, “a very pretty canton”, and recalls that Vaud was the first canton to grant women the right to vote, in 1959. He defends innovation, legislative as much as technological, and compromise: “a compromise does not mean compromising oneself”.
