Working visit to China: social security agreement

27 September 2015 - 1 October 2015

Alain Berset begins in Ningxia province: a village where migrants have been resettled, the cave dwellings of the loess plateau, the fight against desertification.

In Beijing, he signs with the Minister of Culture, Luo Shugang, a declaration of intent opening negotiations on a cultural agreement. On 30 September, he signs with Yin Weimin, Minister of Human Resources and Social Security, an agreement exempting posted workers for up to six years from paying contributions in the host country. Some 600 Swiss companies employ more than 200,000 people in China.

He then holds talks with Vice-Premier Ma Kai on social security and on adapting pension systems to ageing. At the Sino-Swiss Business Awards of the Chamber of Commerce, he speaks about innovation: we know why the apple falls, but not yet how innovation comes about.
