Reception for the Swiss ice hockey team, world vice-champions

11 June 2018

Silver medallists at the World Championship in Copenhagen, the Swiss national ice hockey team is received at the Federal Palace, with the presidents of both chambers present. It is the first hockey team to receive this honour.

Alain Berset congratulates the team on behalf of the Federal Council: an attacking, self-confident team that improved from game to game. He picks out two moments, Corvi’s overtime goal against Austria and Genoni’s save against Canada. And he compares: “Bisher hat noch niemand aus dem Bundesrat den Sprung in eine ausländische Liga geschafft…”
