70th Locarno Film Festival
Alain Berset opens the 70th edition of the Locarno Festival on the Piazza Grande. He goes back to 1946, the year of “Notorious” and “La Belle et la Bête”: after Venice, two “water towns” take up the cause, Cannes and Locarno.
The next day, before the press, he reviews a bumper year for Swiss cinema — three films at the Oscars, two Césars for “Ma vie de Courgette”. He announces the co-production agreement with Mexico and the revision of the one with Canada. The Film Location Switzerland investment promotion scheme (PICS) has committed 5.9 million francs and generated 30.5 million in investment.
At Monte Verità, he responds at the lunch given by the festival in his honour. At the Leopard Club, before the festival’s partners, he speaks about attention spans, now down to eight seconds, in the presence of Adrien Brody.
