68th Locarno Film Festival

5 August 2015 - 10 August 2015

On 5 August, on the Piazza Grande, Alain Berset opens the festival: “In Switzerland, the leopard is a protected animal.” Care must be taken, he says, that this big cat does not feed on popcorn alone.

On the 6th, at a press conference, he presents the new film funding regime for 2016–2020: the PICS programme, with 27 million over five years for filming and post-production in Switzerland, and an ordinance on international cooperation replacing the transitional solution adopted after the freeze of the MEDIA programme. “Exchanges with Europe are important and beneficial for Swiss cinema.”

On the 7th, he speaks at the traditional reception at Monte Verità, at the aperitif of the Federal Office of Culture (Parliament has just adopted the Culture Dispatch, increasing its funding) and before the Leopard Club, the festival’s circle of patrons.
