Vote of 3 March: the family policy article fails to win the cantons

The last act of the campaign: the Federal Council’s radio and television address. “The family is an essential pillar of our society.” Alain Berset recalls the division of roles: family policy remains the responsibility of the cantons; the Confederation would only intervene if efforts were insufficient, and through a law subject to referendum.

On 3 March, the people accept the article with 54.3%, but 13 cantons out of 23 reject it. The double majority is not achieved. That same evening, Alain Berset comments on the result before the press.
