Art Paris: Switzerland as guest of honour
Switzerland is the guest of honour at the 20th Art Paris Art Fair, at the Grand Palais, from 5 to 8 April. Thirteen Swiss galleries from Berne, Geneva, Lausanne, Zurich and Neuchâtel, and some hundred artists, with Karine Tissot as curator. The President of the Swiss Confederation speaks at the preview on 4 April.
He answers Graham Greene and the “cuckoo clock” of The Third Man: Swiss peace and democracy produced not only the cuckoo clock, but also the Swiss army knife, Velcro… and Dada, born in 1916 at the Cabaret Voltaire. Then he turns serious: France and Switzerland have behind them 500 years of perpetual peace, celebrated in 2016, and the Swiss Cultural Centre in Paris is 30 years old. “Let us support our freedom-loving artists.”
