Centenary of Post Tenebras Lux, the Genevans of Bern
3 June 2013
The association of Genevans in Bern celebrates its hundredth anniversary. Alain Berset times the train journey: 1 hour 41 minutes, of which he mainly knows the last 22. A hundred years ago, Bern was for a Genevan a distant world, “verdigris, austere”, where no wine was produced.
The time separating the two cities has shrunk; the constitutional framework, for its part, has not moved. He draws from it a reflection on majorities and minorities in the federal state, and salutes the Genevans in the administration: “what would a watch movement be without Genevans?”
