Culture and Economy Forum

For the first time, Alain Berset addresses the cultural delegates of the cantons and cities and the private partners in cultural promotion, gathered in St. Gallen. He thanks business and patrons, whose commitment “sets an example”.

He proposes a distinction borrowed from science: a “basic culture”, a field for experimentation that the Confederation must guarantee, and an “applied culture”, more oriented towards the public. And he quotes an African proverb: “a man without culture is like a zebra without stripes”.
