economiesuisse Business Day
At the Kongresshaus in Zurich, before some 350 guests, Alain Berset delivers the Federal Council’s message at the Business Day. The theme, six weeks before the federal elections: “Wahlen 2023: Perspektiven statt Wunschdenken”. Christoph Mäder, President of economiesuisse, calls there for progress on the Bilaterals III.
Berset talks about artificial intelligence. He opens with a jibe: if AI threatens 27% of jobs, according to the OECD, that makes two seats on the Federal Council. “5 Menschen und 2 Algorithmen?” Then the substance: productivity will rise, and so will inequality, in a world already as unequal as a hundred years ago. He asks questions without taboos: taxing AI companies more, reforming education, a welfare state that gets people back to work. He ends with Piaget: intelligence is what you use when you don’t know what to do. The answer to AI: “Mit mehr menschlicher Intelligenz.”
